Bought off amazon first big electronic purchase form them. It came early delivery people were professional, saved me $300. Havent had any problems with this TV. Picture looks great colors are bright for the money and 61 inches you cant go wrong with this TV.
After googleing the "shut-off" problem, I found out it is a common issue with ALL Samsung DLPs; which sometimes they can't fix. I own a Samsung 50 inch DLP. It was beautiful until I hooked my XBox up to it and almost the day after the warrenty was up, it broke. I have no extended warrenty and am screwed. Google samsung DLP problems before buying.
I have owned this TV since Oct of 2007 and I still enjoy it. Just get this TV, plug it in and enjoy. The DLP has great color and the picture in HD looks amazing. The great thing about a DLP is that you don't have to worry about doing any proper "burn in". The only con about the tv is that the built in speakers suck. I recommend buying a nice surround sound system and hook it up to the TV to get maximum enjoyment out of each and every movie.
Great TV. I currently have it connected to a Denon 3808 via HDMI, and all my other equipment is connected to the Denon (i.e. Whenever I switch from the DTV to the HTPC (or to and fro any other component) the TV goes into "Searching for signal" for about 15 seconds. The piano black finish is stunning, but does get smudged easily. Other than that, great TV. I don't use the internal speakers or amp, so I can't attest to this unit's sound quality, but image quality is superb. I've had this for several months now, and it produces a beautiful image, only slightly less "brilliant" than a LCD panel. the only cable going to the TV is a HDMI cable).
The only complaint I have is that every time the input signal changes ever so slightly, the HDMI port switches to "searching for signal" for about 15 seconds. This gets annoying. I'm learning to live with it, but it's annoying. I had heard about a "darker band through the middle", but I haven't experienced that at all.
Couldn't be happier with our new Samsung TV. Incredible color and clarity. Love watching sporting events on HD.
